SOS – a mayday from Earth’s highest mountains at the London Climate Action Week.

This video holds parts from our webinar SOS – a mayday from Earth’s highest mountains at the London Climate Action Week.

"We still have a choice, and here every fraction of a degree matters. Some loss is already committed, but the outcome towards the end of the century is still to be decided. Delaying mitigation will result in more loss and damage, greater instability, and less time to adapt to our changing mountains." - James Kirkham, Ambition on Melting Ice (AMI) Chief Science Advisor and Coordinator, International Cryosphere Climate Initiative (ICCI)

Incubated by ICIMOD, SaveOurSnow (SOS) brings together mountain communities, mountain scientists, and mountain champions from culture and the outdoor industry to testify to the fragility and beauty of the Hindu Kush Himalaya: a place that holds the third-largest mass of ice after the two poles and which provides water to some of the largest population centres on Earth.

As temperatures rise and weather systems go haywire, the campaign is calling for leaders to cut the cord on fossil fuels.

In the video, you will hear more on science, diplomacy, visual storytelling, and discussion from the speakers:
